Thousands of people are being affected every day by the pandemic coronavirus. Ventilators are one of the essential tools in the treatment of this virus. But the way that is increasing every day, it is not possible for any organization to provide such rapid supply.

Now, Formula One in Mercedes and engineers from University College London Hospital or UCLH comes with an alternative solution. As an alternative to ventilators, they are developing a breathing apparatus that can provide continuous oxygen. The name of the machine is Continuous Positive Airway Pressure or CPAP.

The BBC reports that the device is currently undergoing testing in Italy and some in China. If it is successful, Mercedes-AMG-HPP will be able to create at least one thousand devices per day. And it will be possible to start construction within the next week.

The Medical and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency or MHRA has already approved the use of the device.

Professor Rebecca Shipley, director of the University College London Institute of Healthcare Engineering, speaks her thoughts with us. She said that it usually takes a year or more to make a medical device. But because a breathing device is easy to make in one day, they are using very common technology here. Which you can call reverse engineering.

Meanwhile, UK Industrial Consortium, Airbus, BAE Systems, Ford, Rolls Royce and Siemens also announces that they will manufacture ventilators. But they yet not received approval from the MHRA.
