In the midst of a global pandemic, when most countries around the world are still under strict lockdown with movie theatres shut down temporarily, Black Widow sets new records in Box Office earnings. The movie has managed to earn $100 million domestic and $200 million globally within just 6 days after release.
The plot of the movie takes place between the events of Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War. Here, after the civil war, she tries to find her estranged adoptive family and together attempts to take down Red Room, the organization which trained her and many other girls to be assassins or die trying. There is a perfect balance between hardcore action sequences and unresolved family issues in this movie.
The movie finally presents the long-time fans of one of the biggest movie franchises in the world with Black Widow’s story apart from the other Avengers. After her first appearance in Iron Man 2 in 2010 and then again in The Avengers in 2012, the character was exhibited as an important player in the overall storyline.
However, like a superhero with no superpowers to bank on, she heavily relied on her above-average ability in combats, she was always overlooked, Underrated and Stereotyped to be some sort of overtly sexualized femme fatale. The writers tried many failed attempts to give her character some depth. But, fans to this day are confused as to what was the point of her short love story with The Hulk in Avengers: Age of Ultron in 2015.
This movie was long overdue and highly anticipated since its announcement back in 2019. Black Widow was among the BIG 6 in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And yet she only got one movie after 11 years, 8 movie appearances, and after the demise of her character from the franchise.
