Maybe you get another idea from the title of the article. No, Cannes is not taking place this year. You will not be able to see the charming red carpet show either. Because of the coronavirus situation, the organizers did not push to attempt some kinds of arrangements. Although, they did not cancel the event yet. Meanwhile, the official selection of films was announced.
The list of selected films was announced at the UGC Normandy Theater in Paris, France on Wednesday (June 3). General Delegate Thierry Fremo and President Pierre Lescour were present at the event. The press conference was broadcast live on Cannes’ YouTube channel and official Facebook page.
During the release at the cinema hall or while participating in various festivals, the posters of the selected films will be adorned with the respectable logo of the Cannes festival. And thus, getting a place in the official selection of Cannes opened the doors of festivals in many countries of the world for these films.
The official selection of Cannes is usually kept in several sections. These are Competition, Un Certain Regard, Out of Competition, Special Screenings, and Midnight Screenings. . But this time, as there is no exhibition in Cannes, the organizers have arranged the selected pictures in different subjects.
