When Odd Signature announced their comeback concert after a year-long silence, fans were eager to see the band back on stage. But just days before the much-awaited August 1 show, tragedy struck again.
AK Ratul — the band’s beloved sound engineer and long-time member — passed away unexpectedly on July 27. For Odd Signature, this wasn’t just a professional setback. It was deeply personal.
“He was like an older brother to us,” said Arnam Amitab, the band’s keyboardist and vocalist. “He wasn’t just doing sound. He was the sound. The silence he’s left behind is something we’re still struggling to accept.”
Grief That Echoes
This isn’t the first time the band has been rocked by loss. In May 2024, lead vocalist Ahasan Tanvir Pial tragically died in a road accident en route to a concert. That single moment halted the band’s momentum and forced them into a long period of reflection and mourning.
Their re-emergence this May with the song “Jogot Moncho” was a quiet but powerful step forward — not a full comeback, but a sign that they were still here.
Now, with “Odd Signature: The Comeback” rescheduled for August 14, the show promises to be more than a performance — it’s a celebration of resilience, memory, and rebirth.
A New Chapter Begins
Fans attending the concert at KIB Convention Hall, Farmgate, can expect more than just music. The band will also officially unveil their new lineup and hint at an upcoming album — a clear signal that Odd Signature isn’t just returning, they’re rebuilding.
“Loss has shaped us,” Amitab reflected. “But so has love. The love from fans, and the love we carry for the people we’ve lost. This show is for them — and for everyone who’s stood by us.”
