If all goes well, this year’s Cannes Film Festival was supposed to be held from 12 to 23 May. But, now, this festival is not happening on this date. In order to control the situation, the 73rd edition of the Cannes Film Festival may take place in June or July.
The Cannes Festival is one of the most prestigious in world cinema. This festival sits in the city of Cannes in the Sea of Southern France. Unfortunately, the threat is visible and organizers are thinking about what would happen to the festival this time because of the coroner virus.
In a new statement, Cannes authorities said the Cannes Film Festival will not be held in an original form this year because of the pandemic coronavirus. They said this only after France government announced a lockdown this week. The Cannes authorities did not provide details about what the alternative plans would be.
When the announcement came to a halt at the Cannes Film Festival, Pierre Lescure, the president of the event, said he was hopeful it could be done this year.
But French President Emmanuel Macron said on April 13 that the lockdown could increase until May 11, and there would be no public events until mid-July.
One potential situation would see Cannes being pushed to the fall. That time span, in any case, could be tricky in light of the fact that September is as of now pressed with the Venice, Toronto and San Sebastian film celebrations; while in October, Mipcom is as of now booked to happen in the city of Cannes for three days until Oct. 15. It would take about a month for the celebration to be assembled in the French Riviera town.
