The star of ‘Black Panther’ died on Friday after a four year battle with colon cancer. Boseman’s representative confirmed the news to the media. He was 43.
Boseman’s career begins with his portrayals of Black American icons Jackie Robinson in 2013 and James Brown “Get on Up” in 2014. It was before he was known as the Marvel Studios superhero.
“It is with immeasurable grief that we confirm the passing of Chadwick Boseman,” said a status posted to his Twitter feed. “It was the honor of his life to bring King T’Challa to life in Black Panther.”
According to the status, Boseman never spoke publicly about his diagnosis. He was gone through his treatment for much of his career.
Boseman most recently appeared on the screen was Spike Lee’s Vietnam War drama “Da 5 Bloods.” t
He is survived by his wife and family.
