Women are always fond of different and beautiful hair clipping. These hair clips are made of various metals starting from plastic. And in these items, there are similarities in the form of flowers, birds and animals. We came to know that the fashion of hair clips was also prevalent in the ancient Roman era. A hair clip from 1800 years ago has been found recently in Lincolnshire, East England. Interestingly, the clip is made of copper to look like a horse!
Jason Price, a retired Army member from Lincolnshire, found this excellent clip in the underground. The 48-year-old former army member is currently engaged in the hobby of finding metal objects underground. He recently identified something metallic with a detector about eight inches below the ground on a land in Lincolnshire. Later he dug up the soil and brought out the hair clip that looked like a horse.
The clip, which is 2 inches long and weighs a little over 23 grams, was made between 200 and 410 AD. The pin attached to it is still intact.
Jason said that he has found ancient coins before. But the hair clip evoked a different feeling to him.
Britain was under the Roman Empire about two thousand years ago. Archaeologists have identified the horse-like hair clip found in Lincolnshire as evidence of that time. A similar product is currently housed in the British Museum.
Lincolnshire County Council Liaison Officer Lisa Brundle said this hair clip is a rare discovery.
