The official selection of the Asian New Talent Award at the prestigious Shanghai International Film Festival in China was given to the joint production of India and Bangladesh’s Debris of Desire (Mayar Jonjal). The film is going to be the world premiere at the festival.

One of the three main characters of this film is played by Aupee Karim from Bangladesh, Paran Bandopadhyay, and Rittik Chakraborty from Kolkata. This is the first time that these three people have been together. And, the film was directed by Indranil Roy Chowdhury.

Sources say that The Shanghai Festival is being inaugurated on July 25. And, the festival will continue till August 3 in Xinjiang province.

The film’s producer Jasim Ahmed said, “The head of the Asian New Talent Award confirmed the news in an email. So, then there was a lot of activity behind other formalities, including DCP delivery. We are very happy that our film will premiere at a festival listed in A-grade. Now it’s time to get the audience back to the cinema!’

Meanwhile, no international jury is invited to the Shanghai assembly due to the coronavirus epidemic. So, this time the shortlist of films has been declared as the official selection of the Asian New Talent Award.
