This year’s Cannes Film Festival will be an alternative to the outbreak of coronavirus. That’s why speculation is going on that the 73rd edition of the festival may be held online. And, that possibility increased steadily.
The commercial branch of Cannes ‘Marche Du Film’ has already announced the online screening. The movie will be sold from June 22 to June 25. And, the online market will be supported by the international film industry and film professionals. Alternatively, it will help to increase their communication.
“No one knows what the second half of this year is waiting for,” Thierry Fremaux, director of the Cannes Film Festival, said in a statement. He also said, that they do not know if it will be possible to make a big film festival with Cannes in 2021. So, they are adapting to new ways. Therefore, they take it as a chance and make the first step by making Marche Du Film online. Here, a new kind of market is being launched with the participation and advice of many professional film personalities and staff of the world.
Referring to the new steps, Jérome Paillard, executive director of the Cannes Marche Department, said that in these difficult times of the current situation, the film industry of different countries needs a global stage. So, last week, they conducted a survey among global distributors and found that 80% of them are interested in the online market. By the process, 66 percent of distributors get the ability to buy any full-length film and post-production and screenplay production.
How it works:
During the Cannes festival, the activities that are usually performed at the Marche Du Film have been reported to be in the online market. Here, sales agents will find virtual booths to showcase new images and construction work to buyers.
Virtual Pavilion allows each country to report its films, investing companies and shooting locations, and provide support and meetings for producers. However, it is commonly seen in the Cannes Village International section.
Participants can request a meeting or organize a meeting through the Marsh Du Film networking app ‘Match and Meet’. So, this meeting will be completed online in a video call.
Pictures and projects in full film or post-production can be presented at online screenings. There will be 15 virtual theaters.
Acquisition of the Marche Du Film Online will be available for 95 euros on May 29. So, then you can buy it for 195 euros. There will be a year-long subscription to Xinando, a movie-based online network. Meanwhile, these facilities debuted in the Marche Du Film in 2003.
