Celebrities are people as well. They have personal lives, emotions, personalities, passions, and loved ones they want to protect. Then why is it that media sometimes forget these things and only view them as a source of news and coverage? Is this all they amount to? This is the same sentiment many celebrities expressed towards the Indian Media Outlets for insensitively covering Siddharth Shukla’s funeral.

On the 2nd of September 2021, Siddharth passed away due to a heart attack. He is survived by his mother and 2 sisters. And his final rites took place on the next day attended by his family, close friends, some colleagues, and of course, the media.

They have always been known for crossing all boundaries to be the 1st one to break any news, that’s not even news. From stalking celebrities going out for a jog to crashing their weddings for some clicks. They think nothing is off the table. their mindset is so disgusting and pathetic that it’s not even laughable.

As in any case, they crossed limits during the late actors’ funeral processions as well. they took pictures of his grieving family and close friend Shehnaaz Gill, who were visibly torn because of their loss, took interviews of anyone who came out after meeting the family to find out their conditions and what’s happening inside. instead of being sympathetic towards them and leaving them alone, they saw them as just an opportunity to sell for the big bucks.

Actress Kriti Sanon expressed her disdain in a lengthy Instagram story saying how it breaks her heart to see the media be so insensitive, urged them to stop covering funerals and not to exploit people suffering through personal losses, and to stop posting those images online.

Comedian Zakir Khan posted a poem on Instagram reflecting on this situation. This post was later shared by Anushka Sharma on her Instagram which catapulted it to everyone’s attention.

Through this poem, he wanted to impart the message of how celebrities are dehumanized by the media after death, and their whole existence and tormented family becomes nothing more than just “tamasha”, a joke, to them to exploit.

It hasn’t even been a week for his family to wrap their heads around his death. They haven’t had the proper time to deal with their grievances. And yet, most of the media outlets are still busy clawing on Siddharth Shukla’s friends and family for news and hindering his funeral processions. This is hands down one of the lowest levels of inhumanity. But all we should do is keep him and his family in our prayers and hope they get through these hard times with courage and dignity.
