Who does not know the power of Bollywood in the Indian film industry! However, the film that is being sent from India this year for the best foreign-language film at the 93rd Oscars is not a Hindi film. The Oscar committee of India has shortlisted 26 films and discussed, reviewed, and voted on them in several rounds. Given this, it has been decided to send the Malayalam language film ‘Jallikattu’ from India to the official Oscars.
‘Jallikattu’ won the Oscar nomination race, leaving behind acclaimed films like ‘Check Post’, ‘Sirius Men’, ‘Bhosle’ and ‘The Disciple’. This is the film inspired by the short story ‘Maoist’ written by author S. Harish on bullfighting.
In Tamil Nadu, Jallikattu calls the method of playing the game by controlling the running bull. A village next to the forest. The villagers are alert for the attack of animals including wild bears. One day a mad buffalo entered the village. Destroyed the village. The children are crying loudly. Everyone is running in groups with fire in their hands. In such a situation, the difference between humans and animals gradually disappears. Humans became worse than animals.
Based on such themes and storylines, the film is directed by Lijo Jose Pellissery. Anthony Varghese, Chambon Vinod Jose, Sabuman Abdus Samad, and Shanti Balachandran have played the lead roles in the film.
