In the last decade, the most natural-looking make-ups are what’s coming back in trend. From our day-to-day life to the cover of the biggest fashion magazines, everyone is sporting a look that highlights their natural beauty. This trend has elevated so much that many renowned make-up brands have launched a collection of skincare products. To ease the process of looking your best natural self, we tried to provide you with some helpful tricks.
Skin prep:
DO’s :
In order to build any foundation the most important thing is a proper base. In the case of make-up, that base is your skin. To start off, try a little exfoliation on your skin to fix its texture. Either use a mild scrub that does not dry up the skin too much. Or use a good toner with AHA BHA and PHA components. They are good more removing excess oil and sebum from your face. Remember to gently swipe a cotton pad with toner or use your palms to gently pat it into the skin. After that comes hydration, so use a moisturizing sheet mask to revive the natural glow. Do not forget to apply a lightweight serum with vitamin A, D, and E.
Don’ts :
Never skip the hydration step in your prep routine. It creates a protective layer between your skin and base makeup. Throughout the day, your skin could turn dry and form flakes making it look like it’s peeling off. However, do not use too many oil-based products if you have oily skin. That could cause your skin to break out.
Base make-up:
Do’s :
Since the objective of this is to make your face look as natural as possible, use mostly liquid, semi-liquid, or cream products. You can use a strobing gel as a highlighter on your cheekbones, on the bridge and tip of your nose, brow bone, and on your cupid’s bow. Or you can use a cream-based blush that gives you a natural shine as well. If your face seems too oily then use blotting paper to soak up the excess oil. Or place tissue paper over those areas and gently dab a brush over it with a little bit of powder.
Don’ts :
Never use cream or liquid-based products over powder. This will make you look cakey. Baking your face is not a good option either. And try your best not to go overboard with bronzers and contouring.
Eyes and Lips :
Do’s :
For both, it is better to stay on the neutral side of shades. Remember to blend the shadows properly on your eyelids while leaning towards soft brown or nude colors. You can use a dark brown or soft black eye shadow to line your upper lashes. Use black or dark brown mascaras. Feather out your brow while lightly filling them in with a brown eye shadow. Keep it soft on your lips with a lighter shade of pink or mauve or go for nudes.
Don’ts :
Avoid doing a smokey look unless your goal was to look like a raccoon. Black may look good on everyone, but it does not look natural if you have a lighter skin tone. Piling on layers of mascara and using black on brows or defining them with rigid lines are a big no-no. Don’t go bold with your choices of lip colors either. It could take away from your innate beauty.
These were some of the things everyone should keep in mind when they want to showcase their inherent beauty. Just a special reminder, no matter where you came from or what race you belong to, you are beautiful just the way you are. The article is just a tweak on perfection.
