“Priyo Maloti” the debut feature by Shankha Dasgupta, was honoured with the Audience Award at the 8th edition of the London Bengali Film Festival.

Audiences responded enthusiastically to “Priyo Maloti” during the festival, held between April 22 and 27 this year.

Announcing the news on social media, Shankha Dasgupta wrote, “Thrilled to share that ‘Priyo Maloti’ has won the Audience Award at the 8th London Bengali Film Festival! Grateful to everyone who believed in our story — your love and support made this possible. Here’s to creating more stories that unite hearts across borders.”

The film premiered at the festival’s opening ceremony on April 22 at Barbican Cinema.

Inspired by real-life events, Priyo Maloti is a poignant drama about a pregnant woman whose life is upended by unexpected circumstances.
