Shaksuka is a popular North African and Middle Eastern dish for breakfast. This simple yet delicious dish is made out of simple ingredients like poached eggs and tomatoes. Turn your breakfast a bit more fun by trying this new recipe.

Ingredients:

  • 4 capsicums
  • 10 chopped tomatoes
  • 4 crushed cloves of garlic
  • 1/4 tbs chili flakes
  • 2 table spoons of cumin powder
  • 20 ml olive oil
  • a pinch of salt and pepper

Method:

  • Capsicums should be baked until the skin is browned.
  • They should then be covered in aluminum foil and let to cool at room temperature.
  • Remove the core and seeds, then slice the burned skin into strips.
  • In a pan with hot olive oil, combine all the ingredients. cook until softened over low heat.
  • Use salt and pepper to taste to season.
  • 100 g of the shakshuka should be poured into a small skillet.
  • Make a well in the center of the mixture using a large spoon, then crack two eggs into it.
  • Cook with the lid on for about 10 minutes on low heat, or until the yolks are still runny.
  • You can top it off with cilantro or parsley to taste.
