The moment the announcement was made about who’s going to be Britain’s new Prime Minister we saw so many mixed reactions across the world. Some celebrated, some were utterly disappointed and others were torn between how to appropriately react. Rishi Sunak being the first Prime Minister of Great Britain from a South Asian heritage does have it’s significance however, it also raises a few questions. Sunak was born in Southampton and his parents are of Indian descent who migrated to Britain in the 1960s. He also went to some of the finest educational institutions. He graduated from Lincoln College, in Oxford. He read subjects like philosophy, politics, and economics and later got his MBA from Stanford University as a Fullbright Scholar. The youngest PM of Britain is also one of the richest people of Britain. His wife Akshata Murty is the daughter of N.R. Narayana Murthy who’s an Indian billionaire businessman. The couple has a combined fortune of £730m. Sunak was a partner at the hedge fund firm called the Children’s Investment Fund Management.
The newly elected PM has already made people start conversations regarding his policies and the what the future hold for the country. Only time will give people answers.
