The trailer for DC FanDome and many others of recent times is simply buzzing online. It reminds me of the time of pre-covid while watching superhero movies with popcorns. But reality says something else. Cineplexes have been shut down since March. And the situation has not changed yet.
The entertainment sector has suffered as well as everything else, but the success of the streaming business has touched the sky. So, what is next? Will our cineplexes and cinema halls sustain? Do we all be dragging ourselves to the era of online streaming platforms?
Now all the activities are going on in our country except for schools and colleges. People are going shopping (not just for the necessary work, but also for the work). I don’t see any obstacle to the opening of cineplex by maintaining social distance and health protocols. And we should also consider the livelihood matter of the staff of cineplex or other halls. It is all about the fact that the owners are under tremendous pressure.
Next week there will be a limited release of Christopher Nolan’s ‘Tenet’. Singer Sam Fender also performed for one of the movie’s songs from England maintaining all sorts of social distancing. So, if we don’t start something like this in Bangladesh, the sector will be in great danger. Star Cineplex has, of course, started a movement called SaveBDcinema. Let’s see what happens next.
We, the moviegoers, and viewers should also be brought to the attention of the authorities. Otherwise, the sector is expected to suffer a severe loss soon.
