Tuesday night at Sher-e-Bangla national Cricket stadium the concert “Cricket Celebrates Mujib 100” took place. This concert was organized by BCB featuring the Academy Awards winner AR Rahman along with many other popular musicians of Bangladesh. The honorable Prime minister Sheikh Hasina was present for the special musical night. 

Dhaka’s audience was ecstatic to see AR Rahman perform. After much anticipation, he appeared and mesmerized the audience with his melodious music. He performed some of his most popular tracks like “Jai Ho”, “Kun Faya Kun” and more. To everyone’s surprise, he also performed two Bangla songs for the occasion. One of the Bangla tracks was written by the renowned Zulfiquer Russel called “Bolo Joy Bangabandhu.”

The official start of the show began with the national anthem followed by performances by some of the big names in Bangladesh’s music industry. The legendary band Miles performed some of their most popular tracks. The folk diva Momotaz also sang a few of her hit songs like “Local Bus”, “Pakhna,” “Morar Kokile” and more. The excellent night of music was hosted by Rumana Malik Munmun and Aditya Narayan the popular Indian singer.

Bangladesh Cricket Board(BCB) has been trying to organize this event since the March of 2020. Due to the global pandemic, it got delayed by this year. However, after much anticipation, it did end on a high note and the crowd of Dhaka was more than pleased. AR Rahman also met with our prime minister prior to the concert at her residence in the afternoon.
