The very first Bangladesh Wedding Couture Week came to its beautiful end, leaving the Bangladeshi Fashion world excited and hopeful. The BWCW was presented by TRESemmé and driven by Mercedes-Benz, which celebrated Bangladesh-based designers who are at the top of their game.
In a country where people opt for Indian or Pakistani designers for their special day a shift in that culture was long overdue. The esteemed designers Sarah Karim, Zurhem, and Sahar Rahman were center stage with their top-notch designs.
The final day of the event was reception day attires. This particular day gave the designers the opportunity to move away from the classic red and golden color combos of traditional wedding ceremonies. We got to encounter all sorts of experimentalism with colors, jewelry, and styles.
Sahar Rahman aced the pastel shades while Sarah Karim went for deeper bolder colors. Lastly, Zurhem broadened our outlook into how there can be so many variations in style in the groom’s outfits as well. As one of the major men’s luxury wear in Bangladesh they definitely outdid themselves in this regard.
The revival of Bangladesh based designers in the wedding fashion industry is a breath of fresh air. It is finally time to take our couture to the world and this was an initiative taken in the right direction.
