“This is massive. It is a massive achievement.” says the Bangladeshi batsman Tamim Iqbal to the reporters on Bangladesh’s historic win against South Africa last night. Bangladesh won the match by a massive 9 wickets on the ICC Cricket World Cup Super League.
From the very beginning of the match, things seemed to be going the Tiger’s way as South Africa’s opening batsman de Knock gets out by only 12 runs. None of the batsmen could do much against the Bangladeshi bowlers. Taskin brought his A-game bagging 5 wickets against the Proteas. They were bowled out at 154 runs.
Then came the Tigers time to bat and the partnership between Tamim Iqbal and Liton Das made the fans go wild. The pair easily were able to score 100 runs in no time. The openers performed as if they were in a hurry to win this match as they snatched 9 boundaries between 13-20 overs. Iqbal made an outstanding 87 runs against the South Africans and Das was just two runs short from making a half-century. Later Tamim Iqbal and Shakib Al Hasan took the team to its memorable victory.
It was one of the biggest nights for the Bangladeshi cricket team. This was their first-ever overseas win against South Africa which takes Bangladesh top of the CWCSL table. And this takes South Africa at the bottom of the table having a fear of not being automatically picked for the World Cup 2023.
