Focusing on the life of our national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam, a docudrama is ready to release. The film is directed by Farooq Khan. It is named ‘Biography of Nazrul’ and submitted to the Bangladesh Film Censor Board in July.
Meanwhile, according to the production company Nazrul Centre, the final print of the docufilm was finalized after completing the full research, shooting, and editing work for the past year and a half. It’s now ready for the exhibition.
The documentary was produced by Al Amin Khan, former executive director of the Poet Nazrul Institute. He was also the adviser to the overall work.
Nazrul’s personal and family life is focused in this film. It includes his coming to Comilla, the marriage with Nargis and Pramila, the living of different houses in Kolkata, and Krishnanagar. All these events are brought here. There is a talk about the poet’s illness and treatment too.
The docudrama will also show a light on the father of the nation Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s initiative to bring the poet to Dhaka with his family. The national poet’s status and the people’s love for the poet will also highlight.
This docudrama was shot in Dhaka, Trishal, Mymensingh, Comilla, Kolkata, Churulia, Asansol, Durgapur, Hugli, Krishnanagar and a few other places.
The director hopes to get the censor board’s release within a few days. However, it will be officially released if the corona situation improves.
