Bangladeshi rock legends Aurthohin set Dhaka on fire with an exclusive listening session for their highly anticipated album Phoenix’s Diary 2 on Friday, October 10. Hosted by Mercedes-Benz in association with Framework Finance Limited, the event brought together fans, musicians, and industry insiders for an unforgettable night.
Live Music and Energy
Frontman Saidus Salehin Khaled Sumon led the band, joined by his son Ahnaf Salehin and other talented musicians. They performed tracks from the new album that mix Bengali Nu Metal with Aurthohin’s signature melodic style.
The setlist included hits like “Phoenix 2,” “Shikari,” “Cactus” (featuring Ahnaf), “Ichche,” “Bedanar Chorabali 2” (with Frank Gambali and Bob Franceschini), “Unmad,” “Brishti’r Gaan,” and “Nikkrist 4.” Each song brought raw energy and emotion, keeping the crowd fully engaged.
Sumon shared personal stories between tracks, giving fans insight into the creative process, struggles, and inspirations behind the album. This made the evening feel intimate and authentic.
Tribute to AK Ratul
The band paused to honor AK Ratul, the late sound engineer and bassist of Wound. The album is dedicated to his memory.
“This album is for Ratul,” Sumon said, his voice full of emotion.
A New Era: Bengali Nu Metal
Phoenix’s Diary 2 marks Aurthohin’s official step into Bengali Nu Metal. The album introduces heavier sounds, new faces, and fresh energy while staying true to the band’s lyrical depth and melodic power.
“Aurthohin is changing with time,” Sumon said. “And we will keep changing.”
Rock Legends and Fans Together
Bangladesh’s rock icons joined the event, including Hamin Ahmed, Iqbal Asif Jewel (Miles), Shakib Chowdhury (Cryptic Fate), Alif Alauddin, Kazi Faisal Ahmed, and Jibran (Bhoutist Team). Fans and musicians alike headbanged and sang along, celebrating the album and the rebirth of Bangladeshi rock.
Album Release
Phoenix’s Diary 2 will release worldwide on October 17. It will be available on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, Tidal, and Kobazz. The lead single “Unmad”, released on October 2, is already climbing streaming charts.
