Marinara sauce or Ragu is an Italian classic. Its included in many famous Italian dishes. We have taken the Italian classic and fused it with Asian flavors. Here’s all you need to know before making it.
Ingredients
2 tablespoons of virgin oil or vegetable oil
¾ diced red onion/one regular onion diced
One carrot chopped
3 finely chopped cloves of garlic
1 can of tomato puree
3 tablespoons of soy sauce
1 tablespoons of fish sauce
2 spoons of ketchup
1 liter of chicken stock
Salt
black/white pepper
Red chili flakes
oregano
Method
- Take a pan pour 2 tablespoons of oil then add your finely chopped carrot and slowly sauté it, then add your onions. When the carrot and onions are half cooked add your garlic.
- After you think the frying is halfway done add your tomato puree to the pan. To that add half of the stock, soy sauce, fish sauce, ketchup, salt, and pepper. After adding all the ingredients put a lid on and put the mixture to low heat. Let it simmer for 30-40 minutes.
- Finally, after simmering for 30-40 minutes the sauce will be cooked. However, if you feel like the sauce has dried down more than it should have you can add the remaining stock and soy sauce to this and let it simmer for another 5-10 minutes for the best results. Add the oregano right before serving.
