Research is underway in many parts of the world to increase the speed and scope of the Internet. Fourth-generation Internet is already well known in the world. In many countries, research and experiments are being done on the fifth generation, i.e. 5G Internet, for high-speed internet. Meanwhile, China has announced that it will test the world’s first 6G technology.

Sixth-generation communications technology tests have been successfully launched from the Taiyuan launch site in the country’s northern Shanxi province. In this test, a total of 13 satellites have been sent on a rocket named Long March-6. One of these will be used to test the incredible speed of Internet technology.

Launched into space, the 6G satellite has been named after the country’s University of Electronic Science and Technology’s satellites, including commercial satellites, along with several far-sighted satellites to protect crops from floods and natural disasters. Some of which was jointly built with Argentine aerospace companies.

Xu Yangsheng, an educator at the Chinese Academy of Engineering, said the orbiting 6G satellite would test the potential of high-speed Internet and work to upgrade the 5G millimeter-wave frequency to terahertz frequencies. The terahertz frequency is one of the components of the 6G communication technology. If the test is successful, full monitoring will begin next January, and the speed of the 6G Internet will be about 100 times faster than that of the 5G.
