As the saying goes, “Eyes are the mirror to one’s soul”, you can tell a lot about someone’s personality by how they do their eye makeup. But, go bold or be subtle, what really matters most is the finish and longevity of the eye makeup itself. So, here are the basic steps of applying your eye makeup that looks classy and lasts longer.

Step 1: Prime

Priming your lids before applying eye makeup is the most essential part. For your makeup to last longer, it needs to stick to something. An eye primer is formulated to provide the perfect adhesive for your makeup to last and at the same time keep your skin moisturized and protected from the harmful chemicals in makeup.

Step 2: Concealer

It is crucial to even out the skin around your eyes before applying eyeshadow. It helps the colors of the shadow to pop more vibrantly and make your eyes look less tired. Do Not Overdo your under-eye concealer, it could take away from the depth of your eyes. Just put a little near the inner corner, center, and outer corner, and pat, don’t rub.

Step 3: Eye Shadow

There are so many eyeshadow trends that are popular at the time. Pick and choose any of them. you don’t need to stick to just one. you can mix them and experiment on your own before going out into the public. But try to go light during the daytime. Start with the shade that is lightest and closest to your skin tone and slowly build up. Stila’s kitten for a basic look or Urban decay’s Naked3 palettes for a subtle smokey look are good options.

Step 4: Highlighting

Highlighting your eyes on key points doesn’t just open up the eyes but also brings dimension to your eye makeup. The secret is to highlight the inner corner, middle of the lid, and brow bone.

Step 5: Eye Liner

This is an elective step for eye makeup. It does help your eyes pop, but you can choose to avoid it entirely. Or, If you want a softer look, you can use black or dark brown eye shadow close to the upper lash line and smoke it out.

Step 6: Curl Lashes and Apply Mascara

Curling your eyelashes can make them look fuller and longer. You can use a Blowdryer for few seconds on the mouth of the curler if you want it to be done faster. But be careful not to burn your eyes or lashes off. And finally, top it off with your preferred mascara. Place the wand on your lashes and wiggle it out. But don’t go too heavy or it will clump.

Step 7: Set it

When you wear makeup, you definitely need it to last longer than the event. So don’t be stingy with the setting spray. By holding the spray a bit away from the face and Keeping your eyes closed, pump a generous amount on your face. Let it dry completely before opening your eyes.

Apart from the eyeliner step, if you follow the rest of the steps chronologically, Applying your eye makeup to perfection will become very easy. Applying eye makeup is a kind of art. And every art needs to be practiced. So don’t be afraid to play around with it.
