Renowned Pakistani musician Rahat Fateh Ali Khan will perform for free in Dhaka to raise funds for July Smrity Foundation in December.
At a news conference held at Madhu’s canteen of Dhaka University, the concert’s organisers stated that the goal is to generate money for the Shaheed July Smrity Foundation, which aids the families of martyrs and those wounded during the July uprising.
With the help of Prime Bank, a platform called “Spirits of July” is organising the event in partnership with the “Shaheed July Smrity Foundation.” Rappers Sezan and Hannan, as well as bands Artcell, Chirkutt, Ashes, and Aftermath, will also perform.
According to their statement, “To show solidarity with the families of the martyrs and those injured during the July Uprising, Spirits of July, a platform created by Dhaka University students, is organising this concert on December 21.”
“All proceeds from the concert will go to the Shaheed July Smrity Foundation, which is dedicated to assisting the families of those affected by the uprising” , they stated.
Rahat Fateh Ali Khan has agreed to perform at the concert free of charge.. According to the organisers, the money raised from ticket sales would benefit the impacted families.
In honor of the students’ significant role in the July 24 movement, special discounts of 16% to 36% are being offered to students on ticket purchases, starting from the first hour of Victory Day.
At a press conference on Tuesday, the organizers revealed that tickets are available in three categories.
VIP tickets, priced at Tk10,000, will be available for students at a 16% discount (Tk8,400). Front Row tickets, priced at Tk4,500, will be offered at a 24% discount (Tk3,420). General tickets, originally Tk2,500, will be available for students at a 36% discount (Tk1,600).
