On 10th May the world bid farewell to another musical legend. Pandit ShivKumar Sharma passed away due to a cardiac arrest at the age of 84. He has been in ill health for the last few months. He has been suffering from kidney-related issues and was undergoing dialysis.

The passing of the maestro left the music world grieving. The internet flooded with farewell posts for the legend. It poured with the posts of paying tribute to the musical sensation.

Pandit ShivKumar was born in 1938, in Jammu. Being born in a musical family his orientation to music was early. At the age of 12 he was already performing in local shows.

The Santoor legend faced a lot of criticism in the beginning of the career. According to many musicians of his time santoor wasn’t an instrument that seemed fit for traditional Indian music, an instrument that’s originally suited for folk music. He proved everyone wrong and won hearts everywhere he went. Soon became one of the biggest names in Indian music making his mark in both nationally and internationally. RIP maestro of santoor.
