The terror of Coronavirus is spreading day by day. Meanwhile, like a cursed blessing, air pollution reduces in Dhaka. Due to the less traffic movement and construction works pollution of air eventually reduced.
On Sunday (March 22), the US-based world air quality technology company Air Visual Index (AQI) shows that Dhaka stands on to 18th position. Even in the afternoon, it stands in the 19th position.
But, for the last six months, Dhaka occupied first place for most of the day. And, the index rose to 350. According to experts, going above 300 is called a disaster. But Sunday’s index fell to just 85.
Corona infection slowed down the human movement on the road. Besides, the visitor’s entrance to the secretariat is closed. In addition, the activities of the court are restricting. The closure of educational institutions is also helping to reduce pollution. Besides, many have already left Dhaka in the wake of the Corona terror. As a result, Dhaka is now very empty. On behalf of the government, it is said not to go out of the house without the need. There is no smoke in the sir. So, all these things eventually impacted the air condition of the city.
Dr. Abdus Salam, Professor of Chemistry, University of Dhaka, has been researching air pollution for a long time. He said that they are not yet in a healthy state. The situation is better than ever because of the current situation. But for our country to be healthy, the index has to be below 50. He said that many times in the last six months, our index has risen to 400/500. But, now, for god sake, we are comparatively in a very good position.
