The highest single-day death toll rises in Italy over the past day. Officials on Saturday said 793 people died in the last 24 hours. This is the highest recorded death in a single day since the virus began to infect last month. A total of 4,825 people died in the country. British news agency Reuters reported the news.
Italy already beat China last Thursday in the deadly coronavirus death toll. According to official statistics, coronavirus has killed 3,245 people in the country. However, these numbers is questionable in Western media.
Another source of Italy’s civil protection agency says the number of people affected by the Coronavirus in the country stands at 53,578. The previous day, the number was 47,021. The situation in Lombardy, the most affected area of the country, is still grim. So far 3,095 people have died in this area.
The first outbreak of the virus began last month in this Lombardy, northern Italy. At present, hospitals are struggling to provide treatment to thousands of people there. Chinese medical experts are also assisting there. They say the sanctions imposed on Lombardy are not strict enough. The army has been deployed since Friday here. They are trying to force civilians to stay in their homes by enforcing lockdown.
Meanwhile, the news says, a total of 6,072 people completely healed from this virus. And there are still 2,857 people in the intensive care center.
