Bangladeshi cinema was going through its most challenging time ever. The crisis became more alarming at the beginning of the epidemic. But lately, industry started to overcome. The wind changes its direction and Bangla cinema sees the light of hope. Despite the scarcity of theaters, many makers continue with the production and release. They were very enthusiastic to bring back the flow in Dhallywood. Online platforms became the best alternative to go far without theaters.
Superstar Shakid Khan’s new film ‘Antaratna’ has started its shooting. Producer Selim khan also decided to shoot his 10 new films. Besides many other big projects like ‘Chokh’, ‘Mukti’. ‘Fire Dekha’, Netri-The leader’, ‘Damal’, ‘’Jaw Pakhi Bolo Tare’ are to start shooting very soon.
Censor board member M Hamid says- After Corona, shooting was stopped for many months. People working with cinema became unemployed. We had no film to judge. But with the ‘new normal’ from last few months, films are being submitted to the censor board regularly. Many have already succeeded to get the certificate. In the last two months, total 10 cinemas got approved. There are big films like ‘PapPunno’, ‘Chandrabati Kotha’, ‘Danger Zone’, ‘Sphuling’ and more. He added, some films are really great, the censor board is hopeful to get audience back to theater again.
Managing director of Manihar Cinema Hall, Jessore says- During Corona crisis we only projected ‘Biswashunduri’ as newly released. Many of our workers went back to their village and started small business. Some even had to ride rikshaw to earn their living. But now new films are coming, we hope to get back on business very soon.
More than 50 films from last year are in the que of release. Some new films are also about to get released. With that great number of new releases hope halls get back its audience back. Bangladeshi Cinema get back its glamour.
