The 69th Indian National Film Award ceremony took held yesterday at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi. At the occasion, President Droupadi Murmu presented the prizes to the winners.
The National Award for Best Actress went to Alia Bhatt for “Gangubai Kathiawadi” Ranbir Kapoor, the actress’s husband, was beside her and looked sharp in all black.
The “Gangubai Kathiawadi” actress received praise and criticism from netizens for repeating her wedding attire.
The actress explained why she was wearing her bridal saree in an Instagram story she made.
“A special day calls for a special outfit. And sometimes that outfit is already there. What’s special once can be special again and again,” Alia Bhatt wrote on her ig story along with a picture of wearing her wedding outfit for the 2nd time.
Alia’s wedding saree, a scalloped off-white confection with understated gold embroidery, was created by Sabyasachi. On April 14, 2022, Alia Bhatt wore the saree, a veil over her hair, and jewelry by Sabyasachi. When Alia received her National Award, she wore flowers in her hair.
