In the crisis caused by the Coronavirus, the IT companies in the country remain close like other organizations. So, many companies will not be able to pay their employees due to a lack of income. As a result, there may also be cases like worker cut. On the other hand, a large number of companies closed due to lack of business. In order to avoid these problems and to keep the institutions functioning as before, the organizations of the IT companies have asked for donations and assistance from the government.
Mobile Phone Manufacturers and Importers’ Association BMPIA:
Bangladesh Mobile Phone Importers’ Association BMPIA has said that there were 9 mobile phone factories operating in the country. All factories now close due to the Coronavirus crisis. On the other hand, mobile sales of all manufactured and imported products also close due to all closure. As a result, there is no income. Besides, the responsibility of entrepreneurs is increasing every day. If this situation continues, the face of the industry will fall from where it is very difficult to lift.
In this situation, the organization has sought similar assistance from the packages announced by the Prime Minister. These packages include paying the salaries of the workers and the package capital to working capital funds. It also requested the next six months utility bill waiver of the closed factories.
VCPEAB proposes to save startups:
Due to the closure of sales and services in the local market, around 300 startups of the country are expected to lose Rs. 450 crore. The jobs of about one and a half lakh employees in these startups are under threat. Many startups are expected to reduce export earnings by at least 80 percent. In this situation, the Venture Capital and Private Equity Association of Bangladesh (VCPEAB) organized an emergency meeting and made six proposals to the government to protect VCPEAB’s members and portfolio companies.
Internet Service Organizers ISPAB:
In this crisis of coronavirus infection, ISPAB seeks cooperation in various areas including financial compensation for business compensation to keep the ISP institutions intact. In a letter sent to the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications Mostafa Jabbar, the organization of Internet service organizations ISPAB has asked for a grant of Tk. 610 crore to continue internet service in the country.
