He lost his mother four days ago. This time Irrfan Khan said goodbye himself. One of the most popular actors in India is no more. Irrfan breathed his last at the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai on Wednesday (April 29). He was 53 years old.

Irrfan was taken to the ICU of the hospital due to a colon infection. His spokesman said he was being monitored by doctors. But doctors couldn’t able to save him. Irrfan was accompanied by his wife Sutapa Sikder and two sons Babil and Ayan Khan.

 

In May 2018, Irrfan Khan was diagnosed with a neuroendocrine tumor. He spent a lot of time in London for advanced treatment.

 

On April 25, Irrfan’s mother Saida Begum died in Rajasthan. He has not seen her for the last time due to the lockdown imposed across the country. While he paid his last respects to his mother through a video call.

 

This year, Irrfan returned to the big screen with the film ‘English Medium’. However, he could not campaign for it due to his sickness. The film was the sequel to his incredibly successful film ‘Hindi Medium’.

 

One of Irrfan’s best works is Maqbool (2003) by Bharadwaj and Piku (2015) by Sujit Sarkar. In 2012, he won the Indian National Film Award for his performance in Tigmanshu Dhulia’s ‘Pan Singh Tomar’.

 

Irrfan Khan has gained international fame by acting in several Hollywood films too. Notable on this list are Danny Boyle’s Slumdog Millionaire (2008), Ron Howard’s Inferno (2016), and Ang Lee’s Life of Pi (2012).

 

He has also been seen in the lead role in a Bangladeshi movie ‘Doob’ directed by Mostofa Sarwar Farooki. The film showcases a shadow over the life of Bangladesh’s legendary writer and creator Humayun Ahmed. Irrfan also co-produced the film.
