Bangladesh is one of the top countries in the world in information technology-based free profession. Although about 6 lakh young people worked at home in the international marketplace, there was no official recognition. The opportunity to show freelancing as a profession was also limited. Now, the government is giving ID cards to freelancers to overcome this limitation.
Our country is also advancing in freelancing keeping pace with the world in technology. According to the Oxford Internet Society, a research institute at the University of Oxford, the number of freelancers in Bangladesh is six and a half lakh. Five lakh of them are working regularly. Digital marketing services are the most advanced in freelancing in our country. Bangladesh ranks 18th in the world in the freelancing community. Despite having so much, freelancers are mostly neglected. Because many people still do not see freelancing as a profession. So freelancers are facing many problems in their personal life. Professional recognition is required for various activities including bank loans, admission of the child in a good school, travel abroad. The ‘Freelancer ID Card’ has been brought to solve thousands of such problems and open new horizons in work.
The government’s ICT Division, Startup Bangladesh, and Bangladesh Freelancer Development Society (BFDF) are working together. Where freelancers can find their own work certificate. The BFDF has been working for a long time on how to give freelancers recognition.
