Ramadan feels incomplete without a few fried items on the iftar menu. It’s more like a guilty pleasure for most of us. There are many ways one can prepare the batter for deep-fried food. For things like vegetables, shrimp, etc. it’s best to opt for the Japanese classic tempura batter. Tempura batter is the lightest and crispiest batter out there perfect for frying vegetables. And in iftar that’s one of the most common things out there. So, here’s how you can easily make them at home.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 large egg
- 1 cup water
- Ice cubes- to keep the water cool
Method:
- Flour can be lumpy at times, so it is better to sift it a few times to make it soft and light. And then set that aside.
- Then take another bowl for beating the egg. Gently beat them until you see that the whites and the yolk are barely incorporated.
- Later put the ice cubes in your water to make it cool then strain them. Add your 1 cup of water to the beaten egg.
- Then get your sifted flour and start adding it to the water and egg mixture. To this process gently and lightly by using chopsticks. Make sure that you don’t overmix it.
- After the batter is ready you can add your desired vegetables or even protein and get them deep-fried to perfection.
