After 2 years of the initial announcement, Prithviraj is finally all set to be released in January 2022. This movie is the first historical drama to be released under the Yash Raj Films banner. However, Did the teaser give anyone the feeling of deja vu?
After the international and commercial success of Jodha Akbar back in 2008, a myriad of movies came out in the same genre. Panipat, Padmaavat, Manikarnika, Tanhaji, and Bajirao Mastani are all products of different directors banking on the favorable box office revenues brought in by these period projects. However, unfortunately, they all give off the same vibe. Even with at least a billion being spent on the production set, costumes, hundreds of extras, and high-profile celebrities, they still manage to blend in with the rest in the genre.
Prithviraj celebrates “the valor of India’s bravest Samrat” as we witness how gallantly he stands and fights to defend his motherland against the invader Muhammad of Ghori. And how hundreds of soldiers were ready to lay down their lives at his command.
The Akshay Kumar starrer movie went on the floor in November 2019. But due to the Covid-19, the production was suspended indefinitely. Then they resumed filming on an indoor set, and now they are ready to release it on January 21, 2022.
Prithviraj will also mark the debut of the former Miss World Manushi Chhillar as Prithviraj’s wife, Sanyogita. Sanjay Dutt And Sonu Sood were also seen in the teaser playing important roles in the movie. while the role of the main antagonist of the storyline, Muhammad of Ghor, Will be played by Manav Vij.
This period drama depicts the story of Prithviraj’s life, coronation, and valor with which he leads his army on the battlefield. And with the movie prepared to be released in the first month of 2022, we can’t wait to see how this depiction will be different from all its predecessors.
