Unless you have been living under a rock it’s pretty hard to miss this trend going viral. Right after the fascination with cheese boards began the trend of butter boards. They are pretty simple to make so let’s dive into that.

How to Make it?

I think you can guess what the main ingredient is here. Yes, you guessed it right it’s the butter. Getting the butter at the right temperature is key. You will need butter that is soft enough to spread but not too soft.

Both salted and unsalted butter is acceptable. Salted butter has a longer shelf life in the refrigerator, but unsalted butter will appear creamier and taste somewhat fresher. When selecting toppings for your butter board, consider the amount of salt in the butter you use.

Method:

  • First, combine your preferred herb with the softened butter; popular choices include rosemary, thyme, and basil. The zest of an orange or a lemon also tastes good. Use a small amount of salt, but not a lot, if you’re using unsalted butter.
  • After that, spread the butter over the top third of the board, leaving room at the bottom for the bread, waffles, or miniature pancakes you’ll be serving alongside the butter.
  • Next, sprinkle your garnishes over the butter. You can have cherry tomatoes with bread, waffles, or pancakes, onions, edible flowers, a little jam, and roasted garlic cloves.

Ingredients

  • Sea salt & pepper (I used unsalted butter)
  • Red onion & roasted garlic
  • Nuts of your choice (I used hazelnuts)
  • Spicy peppers (you know we love our mirchi)
  • Dried apricots or cranberries
  • Edible flowers
  • Herbs ( I used dill & basil)
  • Lemon zest (you need that citrusy freshness)
  • Honey (for the sweetness, makes it magical)
