The world has stood still for what felt like ages because of this Pandemic. We stayed inside our houses in fear of this for far too long while the medical professionals and scientists kept fighting to find a cure for this deadly disease. And yes, calling it a disease is an understatement. None the less cure was invented and distributed worldwide. But the efficacy and side-effects of it still remained unknown to many. So here are some things everyone should know before taking their 1st dose of Covid-19 vaccines.

Getting the vaccine

Things To Expect After The Shot:

Remember that everyone’s body reacts differently to the same thing. So, to avoid any unpleasant surprises later the medical experts administering the dose advise you to be vigilant for at least 30 minutes to check for anaphylactic shocks or allergic reactions.

Experiencing pain, redness, and swelling where the dose was given is to be expected, but not mandatory. The common side effects to look out for are fever, occasional chills, feeling nauseated with a vomiting tendency.

However, if severe reactions, such as breathlessness or chest pains, are observed that immediate report to medical professionals for further moderation and treatment.

Things To Do If you Show Any Reaction:

Every center is equipped with all the tools required to deal with the common side effects of the vaccine. So, If you feel any of the typical discomforts then don’t panic and just let the people of the center know.

For pain or any inflammations, applying a cold pack can be helpful. If you notice any flu-like symptoms then Paracetamol or Ibuprofen should be taken as a precaution. However, Not everything will be treatable there. In case of a severe reaction, like mentioned above, go to the nearest medical emergency facility.

Reasons To Avoid Covid-19 Vaccination:

  • In case you are pregnant or a new mother and still breastfeeding.
  • In case you are allergic to the ingredients of the vaccine.
  • In case you have a weak immunity system.
  • In case you have any bleeding disorder.
  • In case you already have fever or flu.

But If you already had Covid-19 once before, getting the vaccine could add an extra layer of protection from the variants like Delta.

Taking the Covid-19 vaccines does not guarantee full protection. Even If you get both the shots, it is still recommended to follow all the guidelines for safety, like always wearing 1 or 2 masks in public, using hand sanitizers regularly, avoid human interactions to abide by social distancing rules. And hopefully, someday the world could go back to being normal and healthy again.
